How to easily create content each quarter

You can use this approach for each quarter. You can go crazy and plan for the whole year! I like to take small steps so it doesn't feel so overwhelming. We are going to begin by filling in what we know is happening in each quarter and then creating content around that.

Calendar

You can use google calendar, a planner, wall calendar, whatever you want as long as you look at it everyday. I created this huge 24 x 36 calendar you can purchase all 4 quarters here.

I tried various planners but I never stick with them. The only planner I use is the productivity planner to track my tasks and it doesn't have a calendar. I find with content planning I do better with something physical that I can see everyday and can easily write things in. I do think it's good to have it in a digital platform to share with your team. In your calendar begin by marking in this order:

  1. Holidays

  2. Vacations

  3. Time off

  4. Client work people have already booked

  5. Offerings, launches and courses

  6. Weekly content topics for each week

Offerings, Launches and Courses

Depending on where you are in your business you may not be doing any launches but there are other things you can put down that can count in this category. Think of things that you have been wanting to offer your clients, this is where you plan for it and finally get it out!

  1. Freebies (opt-ins)

  2. X day challenges (can be done through email or facebook)

  3. Each of your services

Below you’ll see how I used the calendar. The yellow notes are the launches. Now you have something that you're working towards for your own business and your clients! This also gives you deadlines making it more likely for your to complete it.

*Note: The download includes the new calendar versions that have on the right rail: Focus, Goals, Stats and Notes.

Content

Now let's get into content! For newbies in the business and this included myself when I started, we fall flat in this area. We get so caught up in the work and we just don't have the time or we don't know what to do. I get it! I'm telling you right now, create the content and everything else will fall into place.

Creating content drives traffic to your website, increasing your SEO ranking. Creating content establishes you as an expert. Creating content gets your business out to the world. Creating content isn't just about your business and selling, it's about helping people with what you know. Create the content!

Create Content Around Your Offerings

Now that you know your offerings you can start to create an idea bank. Begin by looking at your offerings.

Let's say you created an opt-in that's a checklist on how to cleanse your home in 3 easy steps. Guess what your blog post is for that week? Why you need to cleanse your home. Boom. Put the opt-in form in your blog post.

One-on-one life coaching service. Blog posts - The benefits of hiring a life coach. What to look for in a life coach. Top 5 red flags took look out for in hiring a coach.

Once you have the topics down the content writing part will be so much easier because you already know this stuff!

The blue notes on the left side of my calendar are the blog posts for that week and they coincide with the products and launches for that week.

Create Filler Content

In between your products and launches you might have a few blank weeks. There's a few ways to fill this up. Think of questions that you get asked often, that way you can direct people right to the blog post instead of answering it a million times. Ask for feedback from your audience via email and social media.

Create an idea bank. Here's a few to get started:

  • Book recommendations

  • Podcast recommendations

  • Feature clients

  • Your favorite tools to use

  • Current trends

  • How you got started

Batch

Now that you know the topics of each post, pick a day or two and write like crazy. You'll be surprised at how easy the writing will flow and how other ideas for future posts begin to pop up.

I like to batch a months worth of blog post at a time. Some people can do more in a weekend do what works best for you.

I suggest you track your time to see how long it takes you to do 1 post, then 4 posts. This way you’ll know for future batch days how much time to reserve for content batching.

Repurpose

I've been saying blog post but your content can be created in any platform you feel comfortable doing. If you don't feel like writing, do a video, do a podcast, do a facebook live, there are many ways to get content out.

Here is the beautiful part no matter how you initially do it you have now created one piece that can be used for multiple platforms. From my blog post, I create a newsletter, and a Pinterest graphic. I create an Instagram graphic to lead back to the blog post. I talk about it in IG stories. I also post it on my Facebook business page. It can go further to a podcast and video live or YouTube. The point is to do one piece of content and everything else will become easier.

Next week we will talk about graphics for your content using templates, saving you soooo much time.

Now go have fun creating content!

We would love if you shared how you’re using your calendar with us on Instagram @rosie.creates
